Learn about the Cherokee Friends, a program comprised of tribal members operating out of the Museum of the Cherokee Indians, who are experts in their culture and history. Cherokee Friends specialize in storytelling, oral history, historical Native American dress, and traditional Cherokee song and dance, and provide free demonstrations and open Q&As in and around Cherokee, NC. 

From October 28–30, the much anticipated fly-fishing competition, Rumble in the Rhododendron, takes place along 2.2 miles of catch-and-release waters in Cherokee, NC. In this tagged fly-fishing tournament, two-person teams put their skills to the test for the chance to win a share of $10,000.

The Oconaluftee Indian Village in Cherokee, NC, is so much more than a place. It’s a total experience; a living history museum that allows you to journey back in time and see what life was actually like in a Cherokee village in the 18th century. As soon as you step onto the grounds of the Village, you’re transported to a different place and time. Don't miss your chance to go before the Village closes for the season on November 12th. 

Tradition, games, food, and the laughter of joyful children mark the 104th annual Cherokee Indian Fair that takes place Tuesday, October 4, through Saturday, October 8. Check out the traditional stickball games, crafts, food vendors, rides, games, and prizes. There’s also live entertainment.
