Date: 11.8.2017On the second Saturday of every month, the Museum of the Cherokee Indian in Cherokee, NC, hosts Heritage Day. The next Heritage Day is set for Saturday, November 11, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Free and open to all ages, all activities will celebrate the Cherokee month of Nvdadegwa, known as the “Hunter’s Moon.” This event is sponsored by the Museum and the North Carolina Arts Council, which is celebrating its 50th anniversary.

Date: 3.18.2019For the last 13 years, the Warriors of AniKituhwa have been delighting and educating audiences in Cherokee, NC, and beyond. The dance group consists of eight men who are all enrolled members of the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians, and are designated official cultural ambassadors. Some of the popular Cherokee social dances they perform include the Bear Dance, Beaver Hunting Dance, and the Friendship Dance where everyone is invited to join in.

A free daylong event of continuous performances and crafts demonstrations, Cherokee Voices shines a light on the people of Cherokee who carry traditions of the culture that have been passed down for generations. The next Cherokee Voices Festival will take place on Saturday, June 9, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Museum in Cherokee, NC.
