What’s Open, Closed, Delayed or Cancelled? A COVID-19 Resource List for Cherokee, NC

Things are changing daily with COVID-19. To keep you informed, we compiled this resource list of what’s open, closed, delayed or cancelled in Cherokee, NC. We will add to it as new updates are released, so please check back often. In the meantime, thank you for understanding, and we apologize for any inconvenience. We encourage everyone to be extra safe and follow all the recommended guidelines to stay healthy during this challenging time.

Here’s the list as of March 23, 2020.

Carry-Out Options in Cherokee, NC 

The following coffee shops, restaurants, and fast food establishments are open for carry-out only. All restaurants located in Harrah’s Cherokee Casino Resort are closed at least through the end of March, and thus not included below.

Grounded Coffee Shop & Food Factory - their drive-through is open until 4 pm. Call or text in orders. (828) 736-1123 

Qualla Java - open for carry-out Monday - Friday from 7 am to 5 pm; Saturday and Sunday 8 am to 5 pm. (828) 497-2882

Paul’s Family Restaurant  - open for carry-out 11 am to 9 pm; Sunday 7am - 8:30 pm. Offering delivery within a 5 mile radius for a $5 charge. (828) 497-9012

Fast Food

Local fast food establishments have their drive-through windows open during this time, including Wendy’s, Subway, Arby’s, Domino’s Pizza, KFC, Burger King, Hardee’s, McDonalds, Dairy Queen, and Taco Bell.   

Closed

The Museum of the Cherokee Indian is closed until at least April 1, 2020. 

Qualla Arts and Crafts Coop is closed until further notice.

Tribal Fishing Waters are closed to non-EBCI enrolled members until April 11. Enrolled EBCI members, their spouses and EBCI first descendants must obtain a special use fishing permit to fish in enterprise waters between March 28–April 11, 2020.

Delayed Openings

The Oconaluftee Indian Village will have a delayed opening. It was originally planned for April 14, but is being pushed back to sometime in May. More info will be added as the new opening date becomes available. 

Cherokee’s Opening Day Fishing Season is postponed until April 11. The annual Opening Day Fishing Tournament (May 28-29) is cancelled. 

Cancelled Events 

Cherokee’s Annual Opening Day Fishing Tournament, March 28-29, is cancelled. 

All events at the Museum of the Cherokee Indian have been cancelled for March, (possibly longer), including the opening of the new masks exhibit: Many Faces. 

ALL events at the Cherokee Fairgrounds have been cancelled for March, possibly longer. 


Fire Mountain Inferno is cancelled, with plans to take place in September. More info will be added as it becomes available.
